AADC Certification

The AADC recognizes the increasing importance of dental consultant certification in the dental benefits industry. Once certified a dental consultant would be exposed to more employment opportunities and career advancement. Put the resources of the largest international dental consulting association to work for your success! When participants seek involvement in our workshops, they develop a degree of knowledge that will lead to certification. Many of our members are leaders in the dental benefits industry, and their staff consultants are increasingly seeking AADC certification.

No other association or school offers dental consultant certification.

An AADC Certified Dental Consultant requires a diverse level of knowledge and experience in dentistry. AADC members and certified consultants all possess the clinical background to render consistent opinions on emerging dental trends, utilization review, dental plan coverage, network management, claims policy and standards of care. AADC workshops offer an opportunity to explore areas summarized above. After participating in three consecutive workshops candidates may apply for association certification. Members must take a comprehensive certification exam composed from 126 landmark articles and papers involving dentistry.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to take the Certification Examination, a dentist must:

  • Have attended two out of three Spring Workshops held immediately prior to the year of taking the examination.*
  • Properly execute the application form.
  • Send the required fees with the application form.
  • Have had a minimum of ten years experience in the clinical practice of dentistry.
  • Have been retained by an insurance carrier, self-insured plan, administrator, or commercial consulting entity for a minimum period of five years.
  • Be sponsored by an Active Certified Member (optional).

These parameters for eligibility to take the Certification Examination were approved by the Executive Committee at a special meeting held March 3, 1990 and will take effect immediately. In order to successfully complete the certification examination, you must be familiar with the material listed in the Certification Reading List below.

*Canadian consultants may replace one AADC Spring Workshop with two CADC meetings.
